One of the main forums for resolving tenancy disputes between landlords and tenants in New South Wales is the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT). In 2015-16, NCAT held over 82,000 hearings in over 70 locations across NSW.
For both property managers and tenants, preparing for a hearing can be intimidating. This is why NCAT has produced four videos which dramatise different scenarios to help people prepare for cases.
They deal with common matters from a tenancy dispute about unpaid rent, home building conflict, the review of a government agency’s decision about licensing, and the appointment of a guardian and financial manager for a person with a disability.
It is important to be prepared, and I would encourage consumers to visit www.ncat.nsw.gov.au to develop a better understanding about the process.
